Folklore Dance Group "Lasowiacy" was created in
Stalowa Wola in 1956.
Stalowa Wola is a city in South-East of Poland
and it is famous from its steelworks factory raised
inside great
historical forest just before second world war. It was beginning of
industry
and well-being of local people. That time dancing, singing
and instrumental artistic groups were united in local House of Culture.
Initiators were Leslaw Rzucidlo, Marian Pysznik and Marian Bienias. First show was on 30th of April 1956 - "Lasowiacy" performed a mazurka
dance from
Moniuszko's opera "Straszny Dwor".
Name "Lasowiacy" is originated from name of people living in
historical times in this region
("las"=forest). They cut down local
woods and rafted it away using San River and Vistula River
to Varsovie
and even Baltic See.
To keep folklore local dances, songs and beautiful dresses was the
major
job to do in the beginnig
but later "Lasowiacy" started to perform
lots of dances from all over polish cultural regions.
Today our
program contains daces from Mazovia, Silesia, Crocovia, Podhale and a
local
folklore of course.
In 19th February 2002 "Lasowiacy" was given a name of choreographer
Ignacy Wachowiak (between 1965-1978 Director of Lasowiacy) who made a
very good job for us.
Marek Zaremba is an artistic director and choreographer of "Lasowiacy"
